DESIGN SUPPORT
The native grasses of the short-grass prairies of western + central Texas can be reimagined as a lawn in full-sun conditions. Taller varieties of prairie grasses, like sideoats grama (BOCU) or a variety of wildflowers, can also be added to add visual variety + biodiversity.
What’s also great is that mowing is mostly optional + necessary only occasionally (like once or twice a year). These tough little grasses can survive on as little as 12-inches per year.
Keep in mind that native short grass turf is more tender than a sports grass, like zoysia, so must be treated as a mostly passive surface (rare to occasional human programmed usage).
